Compatriots,
It is my great honor to serve as your President in the coming year, and I am deeply grateful for the trust our chapter members have placed in me.
This is an iconic year for our nation and for the Sons of the American Revolution. The Captain John Collins Chapter began our 250th Anniversary observance last year with the placement of the SAR 250 monument at Patriot’s Point on Lake Acworth and the dedication of a Liberty Tree in Mars Hill Cemetery, the resting place of our chapter’s namesake.
America began as a dream and became a hard\0x1Ewon struggle for freedom–eight long years that demanded blood, lives, treasure, property, and countless sacrifices from our Patriot ancestors. This year, let us renew our commitment to honor those Patriots, serve our community, and inspire future generations with the founding principles that shaped our country.
Our nation’s 250th celebrations present a unique opportunity for the Sons of the American Revolution–and for our chapter–to grow and deepen our public impact. As the Captain John Collins Chapter participates in local 250th Anniversary events, let us commit first to attending and then to sharing the mission of the SAR with others. I challenge each member to invite at least one prospective member to a chapter meeting or event; a personal invitation is the most effective way to introduce others to the work and purpose of our chapter.
How you can help:
- Volunteer — Sign up to assist at chapter events and 250th activities.
- Share our story — Reach out to neighbors, schools, and civic groups to promote our mission.
- Bring a guest — Introduce someone new at the next meeting or public program.
A small effort from each of us will multiply our chapter’s reach and ensure that our Patriot’s legacies endure. Let us not miss the extraordinary opportunities the 250th Anniversary celebrations of 2026 will offer. I look forward to serving alongside you as we honor our ancestors, strengthen our community, and inspire future generations.
In Patriotism,
Jim Poole
President
Captain John Collins Chapter, SAR
